Teams

What is a Team?

  • Teams can have any number of people (however, you must have a minimum of 10 people to be eligible for awards and prizes) who want to participate in the Race as a group.
  • This group may consist of friends, family, co-workers, schools, children etc.
  • A team can have participants in the same event or a combination of events (Competitive Chip-Timed Run, Non-Competitive 5K, 1 Mile Fun Walk, and Sleep In for the Cure).
  • There is no limit to the number of members you can have on your team.

How do I register/organize a team?

  • It's a good idea to first download the2012 TEAM CAPTAIN TOOLKIT, complete with directions on how to register the Team, about your Participant Center and how to recruit and fundraise.
  • We encourage Team Captains to Form a Team online and register themselves first.
  • Once your Team is created recruit Team members, and encourage your Team members to fundraise.
  • Print out our 2012 Race for the Cure Poster . Distribute it at any place you do business with to promote the Race and your team efforts.

Fundraising is Easy with Online Tools

When you register for the Race you automatically receive your own fundraising web site.  Teams receive an additional Team fundraising page.  Your Team page is a website that friends and family can visit to find a team member or give a donation that supports the fundraising efforts of the entire team.

Personalize your Race fundraising website!  Use it to tell friends and family why you participate in the Race for the Cure.  You can even accept donations online, right from your fundraising website.  To make your page more dynamic, upload a link to a video clip or activate the blog feature.  All of this and more is waiting for your Team once you register for the Race!

Team Captains have the ability to customize the Team website with a team photo and story.
