WHERE DOES YOUR MONEY GO ?

KOMEN FACTS:   Do not listen to rumors or stories - GET THE FACTS. 

All information can be verified at www.charitynavigator.org and on our IRS 990 forms and on our website and that of our corporate office. 

1.     75 % of ALL net proceeds from Komen Southwest Florida STAY in Southwest Florida and fund education, screening and treatment grants ( click here for our list of 2011 / 2012 grantees)

2.     25 % of ALL net proceeds from Komen Southwest Florida are sent to our head office and used for RESEARCH GRANTS ONLY.

3.     Komen funds  200 % MORE in breast cancer research grants than ANY other national or local charity in the USA. 

4.     Komen is the LARGEST source of non-governmental breast cancer research funding and community service grants in the WORLD.

5.     ZERO dollars from our area ( or any Komen affiliate ) are used for ANY salaries, ANY overhead, ANY expenses, ANY advertising etc. . by our head office.  They do their own fundraising to cover that.

6.    Our expenses at the local Komen office are a very low 15%.

7.     At no time has Komen SW Florida funded any grants to or given any money to Planned Parenthood, nor have they applied for any grants from Komen Southwest Florida.

8.     Our Affiliate has put over $ 4.7 Million Dollars back into our local community since 2002 to fund local programs.  No other national charity claiming to support breast cancer has done that. ( click here for our list of 2011/ 2012 grantees)

9.     Our Affiliate has funded over $ 1.5 Million Dollars in research grants.

12.   Komen has a 4 star rating ( the highest available ) from www.charitynavigator.org, for the 5th  year in a row.  Charity Navigator is the watchdog group for non-profits in the US.

13.   Komen receives ZERO dollars of government funding. We have achieved what we have through the generosity, hard work, and successes of our wonderful supporters and corporate sponsors.
