Major step in personalized treatment — Thanks to a 2007 research grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, scientists identified a set of 50 genes that oncologists can potentially use to tailor individualized treatments for all breast cancer patients.
James Denton is named Honorary Race Chair
March 13, 2010 will mark our Fourth Annual Susan G. Komen Southwest Florida Race for the Cure, where we hope to have more than 10,000 participants. “Desperate Housewives” leading actor James Denton has been named Honorary Race Chair, and is scheduled to attend the event on March 13. In 2005, Denton along with co-star Ricardo Antonio Chavira helped raise $8.5 million for Komen. The mothers of both actors lost their lives to breast cancer. Read James Denton's bio here.
Last year the Komen Southwest Florida Race raised over $914,000, helping us grant out over $963,000 to ten local breast health organizations and programs. Women, men and children of all ages and races come together to walk side by side for one cause on Race day. We invite you and your families to join forces with Komen in March by either registering for the Race or supporting our vision of a world without breast cancer.
